Headache
Did you know that most headaches could come from a nerve pinched at the upper neck, lower neck, upper back or jaw? Chiropractors have been trained specifically to assess if your headache is originating from one of those areas.

Wrist
Most people would think chiropractors don’t treat carpal tunnel syndrome. However, chiropractic care, along with physical therapy, has been proven to be one of the most successful treatments for carpal tunnel. Carpal tunnel really means a pinched nerve in your wrist and many patients usually have neck problems associated with this. If these symptoms sound like something you are experiencing, please contact a chiropractor to get checked today.

Elbow
What the heck is “tennis elbow?” ‘I don’t even play tennis!, you may say. Tennis elbow and most elbow problems are due to repetitive motions, which create biomechanical problems. A thorough chiropractic and orthopedic evaluation can determine if your elbow pain is really coming from your elbow or from somewhere else.

Shoulder
My shoulder hurts, therefore I must have torn my rotator cuff – That is the assumption many people make when their shoulder hurts. There are many other causes for shoulder pain, most of which are not due to a torn rotator cuff. For instance, a pinched nerve in your neck can radiate pain into your shoulder. Interestingly, the shoulder joint is the most complex joint in the body. To truly assess what is causing this pain, you would need a thorough examination from one of our highly trained doctors.

Neck and upper back
Most neck and upper back problems originate from your spine. We feel tight muscles; therefore we think our muscles are the problem. Vertebrae that are out of alignment or not moving properly are one of the major causes of neck and upper back pain. Make sure you get checked today!

Low back
A staggering 80% of the population in the United States will, at one time or another, experience low back pain. Most low back pain comes from a “slipped disc”, or a bone out of alignment pinching on a nerve or improperly moving joints in your back and tight muscles. At Camelback Chiropractic we can treat these conditions through chiropractic care, physical therapy and massage.

Leg
What is wrong with the back of my leg? I think I have sciatica, but I don’t know what that is. The sciatica nerve is the nerve that runs down the back of your leg. This is the largest nerve in your body. Most “sciatica” pain comes from a condition that chiropractors can help. So remember to contact us so we can get started on your treatment today.

What is Chiropractic?
Chiropractic is a science, art and philosophy of health and healing. Chiropractic is the largest natural healing art in the world and is based upon the premise that the body is a self-healing organism and that the nervous system is the master control system of the body. Our primary concern is the function of the nervous system and its effects on your health. Minor displacements of the spinal bones, known as vertebral subluxations, can cause endangering stress to the spinal cord, which acts as the main line of intelligence for the whole body.  Subluxations maybe the cause of many of the unwanted health conditions that people suffer from every day.

What is a subluxation? (sub-luck-sey-shun)
In relation to chiropractic care, a subluxation is when one or more bones (vertebrae) is out of alignment or not moving properly and puts pressure on a spinal nerve and thus decreases function. Eventually, this will cause pain but, like a cavity, you can have a subluxation and not feel it.

Is chiropractic care safe?
As with every treatment there are risks, but chiropractic care is one of the safest and most reasonable forms of healthcare when performed by a Chiropractor. You only need to compare the malpractice premiums paid by Chiropractors to those paid by medical doctors.

Is it true that it is bad to “crack” your back or neck?
Yes! Do you notice that even though you may have some relief when you try to adjust your back or neck, soon after the discomfort returns? A Chiropractic Physician needs to perform a specific adjustment on the affected area that you are unable to do to fix the problem correctly.

Why do I hear a “popping” sound when I get adjusted?
When the doctor adjusts you, there is a change in pressure and your joints move slightly, thus releasing a gas bubble creating the “popping” sound. And, as many believe, the popping that comes from cracking your knuckles does not cause arthritis and does not make your knuckles bigger.

Do Chiropractic adjustments hurt?
Chiropractic adjustments should be virtually painless. In the case of a recent injury or trauma there can be inflammation and tension with supporting muscles, which can cause temporary discomfort. However, most patients report a feeling of relief following an adjustment, with an increased sense of well-being and mobility.

Should I have my child adjusted?
Yes. The birth process typically causes your child’s first subluxation. When children begin chiropractic care at an early age, it can dramatically reduce the chance of future injury and ailments to the body.

How does Chiropractic education compare to that of Medical Doctors?
Chiropractors go through an intense education to graduate as a Doctor of Chiropractic. Their curriculum is as follows:

- Completion of at least two years undergraduate study, with a focus on the sciences
- Four years of Chiropractic Education.
- At least 900 hours of work in a Chiropractic Clinic as a chiropractic intern.
- Pass post-graduate written and oral board exams, at both state and national levels

I hear that once I go to the chiropractor I will always have to go, is this true?
This is not true, especially in our office. There is a beginning, middle and end to all treatment recommendations. We perform a thorough history, exam, x-rays and any other diagnostic tests to ensure that you do, in fact, have a chiropractic problem before we begin any specified treatment. If you do, we will be able to help this condition and you will not be required to see the chiropractor forever! Remember, your health is always your choice.

How much is this going to cost?
We are dedicated to working with you to accommodate your financial needs. We offer pre-pay discount packages and also time-of-service payment plans. We do accept most insurance plans, so be sure to bring in your information and one of our experienced staff members will assist you.

Why is Physical Therapy Important?
Physical therapy is the development of both exercise protocols and modalities to help facilitate the body to return to its optimal state of health. By measuring different aspects of body functions, such as joint range of motion, muscle strength, cardiovascular endurance and balance, physical therapy can help to alleviate musculoskeletal pain and symptoms while helping the body function at a normal level. Physical therapy is not just limited to injuries, but can also help to decrease occupational stress, bad postural habits and even the natural effects of aging. Physical therapy needs to include a balanced program of flexibility, balance and coordination, cardiovascular, endurance and strength training. Keep in mind that strain and injuries are not discriminatory; they affect male, female, young and old. Remember, it takes time to help restore health, so patience and commitment from you are essential keys to a successful outcome.
